Sales of new petrol & diesel cars in the UK will be banned from 2030!
It’s a huge moment, less than a decade away, so no surprise that manufacturers are turning to EVs. We are at the beginning of the E Car revolution and to make sure you don’t get left behind, we’ve a list of all the EVs that are currently on sale in the Uk.
Audi E-tron
Available in standard or rakish Sportback, the E-tron was designed to look ‘normal’, so as not to put off buyers nervous about its high-tech underpinnings. Comfortable with soft suspension and excellent refinement and all variants feature twin motors-four-wheel drive, while the larger-battery 55 claims up to 261 miles of range. The tri-motor S packs 496bhp, a 0-62mph time of 4.5sec.
Citroen ë-c4
The ë-C4 family hatchback, certainly standing out with it's interesting design. It's based on the standard C4, ditching that car’s ICE power for a 134bhp electric motor and 50kW battery that delivers 217 miles, and it has 100kW rapid-charging potential. Just like the standard C4, it's interior is roomy, with loads of standard kit, an easy car to get along with, comfortable with soft suspension. The motor performance is 0-62mph dash of 9.0sec.
BMW iX
Loosely based on the brand’s CLAR scalable architecture, it mixes the i3’s CFRP with aluminium, while the battery (a large 100kWh on the range-topping 500bhp xDrive50) is mounted low in the floor. Motors front and rear deliver four-wheel drive, an impressive 380 miles between charges. Air suspension for comfort, plus the interior is lavishly finished.
XC40 Recharge P8
A taller and roomier version of the Polestar 2, the XC40 Recharge uses the same twin-motor layout that delivers 402bhp and four-wheel drive, but a SUV body is why the 75kWh battery delivers a claimed 259, rather than 292, miles of range.
Its softer suspension and high-riding stance mean it’s less capable in corners too, even if the straight-line performance is equally scorching (0-62mph in 4.7sec).
Porsche Taycan
This all-electric saloon delivers new standards of performance and precision.
The 751bhp Turbo S models are super fast. The interior is beautifully finished and comfortable, while an 800V architecture allows 270kW charging with a range of 301 miles. Sport Turismo adds a bigger boot, while the Cross Turismo includes the extra carrying capacity plus some tough plastic body cladding for an SUV vibe.
Volkswagen id 4
Offering a raised ride height and roomier interior. Essentially a reskinned Skoda Enyaq (or Audi Q4), it’s only available with the larger, 77kWh battery, meaning a minimum claimed range of 316 miles. It drives with same assurance as the ID 3. The recently launched GTX offers GTI levels of fun and has twin motors, four-wheel drive, lower suspension, plenty of red trim inserts and 295bhp.
Mokka-e
Around 1500kg to haul around, the 134bhp Mokka-e doesn’t feel much faster all out than the 1.2-litre petrol, but it’s quieter and quicker of the mark, while the handling is secure. It's 310-litre boot is cramped by class standards and comes with 201-mile range.
Tesla Model Y
Tesla fans have been waiting for this beauty. The Model Y offering a raised ride height, elevated driving position and spacious interior. Minimalist interior with vast touchscreen as well as a driving experience with strong performance. Twin motor four-wheel drive, with the Long Range promising 331 miles on a charge and 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds, while the 483bhp Performance can demolish the same performance test in 3.5 seconds but with a shorter 319 mile range.
Renault Megane E-Tech
Bold design in and outside, classy and eco-friendly materials create an upmarket vibe. The Megane delivers a surprisingly supple ride, making it more satisfying to steer. Available with a choice of 168bhp and 215bhp motors. The 40kWh and 60kWh battery options deliver ranges of 186 and 292 miles.
Skoda Enyaq iV
One of the better family-sized EVs you can buy with an impressive range and assured driving dynamics. There’s a choice of 62kWh or 82kWh battery packs, with a maximum range of 331 miles for the latter. A 261bhp twin-motor all-wheel-drive version has just been launched, offering a 6.7sec 0-62mph time. Rapid 125kW charging is optional, 50kW is standard.
